Obituary of Patrick J. Gleason

Patrick J. Gleason, Jr. formerly of Bloomingburg passed away on Thursday, April 10, 2014 at the age of 81. He was the son of the late Patrick J. Gleason, Sr. and Elizabeth M. Keane. Patrick was also predeceased by his spouse Evelyn Gleason in 1999 and former spouse Maria Lavelle Gleason. Patrick is survived by three sons, Neil Gleason, Martin Gleason and Thomas Gleason; and one grandson. Patrick served in the U.S. Air Force as a mechanic Crew Chief. In addition, Patrick served 21 years in the U.S. 105th Airlift Wing Air National Guard as an Aircraft Maintenance Technician at Westchester Airport and Stewart International Guard Base. Master Sergeant Patrick J. Gleason received the Meritorious Service Medal for the period of July 1, 1995 to September 11, 1992 and was a lifetime member of the American Legion and Air Force Sergeants Association. One of Patrick's favorite past-time was building model airplanes. During retirement, Patrick became an avid reader of books by John Clancy, Robert Ludlum & Clive Cussler. Patrick had many cats during his lifetime and he was a very kind and gentle man and will be missed by many. Visitation will be held on Monday, April 14 from 4-7pm at the VanInwegen-Kenny, Inc. Funeral Home, 111 Sullivan Street in Wurtsboro. His funeral service will be held on Tuesday, April 15 at 10am at the funeral home. Burial with military honors will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery in the Bronx. Memorial contributions may be made to the Sullivan County SPCA, P.O.
