Obituary of Dawn Louise Little
Please share a memory of Dawn to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Dawn Louise Little died suddenly at her home in Louisville, Colorado on February 19, 2014. She was 58.
Dawn was born on May 17, 1955 in Middletown, New York. She graduated from Monticello High School in 1973 and earned her Bachelor's and Master's Degrees from Pace University in New York City. She was a Certified Public Accountant and an Adjunct Professor at Passaic County Community College, where her teaching assignments included various levels of accounting classes. Her career took her from New York, to Connecticut and eventually to New Jersey before she relocated to Louisville, Colorado in October, 2012.
Dawn was intrigued with genealogy and enjoyed exploring the history of her family. She also enjoyed crafting but never more so than when she was working on archiving collections for her family. She was an avid fan of the New York Yankees and made an effort to watch every game of every season. She enjoyed music all of her life and performed with many choral groups through the years, but was especially fond of barbershop-style ensembles. After moving to Colorado, she became a volunteer with the Emergency Family Assistance Association and was active in the region's Newcomers Club.
Dawn was a life-long lover of cats and made hers the forever home of many kitties through the years, always adopting them from local Humane Society chapters.
She is survived by her Mother, Eileen (House) Little-Siegel of Simsbury, CT; sisters Marjorie Melendez and her husband Ralph of Livermore, CA, Judy Kaiser and her husband Richard of Avon, CT, and Lois Little of Colebrook, NH; nieces Maria Melendez- Gallagher, Laura Chinnavaso, Chelsea Kaiser and nephew Alexander Kaiser, as well as numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. She was pre-deceased by her father, Lowell W. Little, in 1982.
Following a private memorial service in Simsbury, CT, she will be interred at the Sylvan Cemetery, Route 209 in Wurtsboro, NY on Saturday, May 3rd with a brief committal service at 12:00 noon.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Dawn's name can be made to the Humane Society of Boulder Valley, 2323 55th Street, Boulder, CO 80301 or online at http://www.boulderhumane.org/donate/tributes-memorials
