Raquel D. Marrero of Monticello, a former employee of the Concord Resort Hotel, died February 18, 2014 at the Catskill Regional Medical Center in Harris. She was 73. The daughter of the late Jose and Ramona Rodriguez, she was born September 18, 1940 in Matanzas, Cuba. Raquel immigrated to the United States in 1970 with her former husband Manuel Marrero. At one time Raquel was involved with the New York State Harness Racing Association, and truly enjoyed spending time with friends at Monticello Raceway. She is survived by her son Lizvaldo "Lee" Marrero of Kiamesha Lake; a granddaughter: Nichole Marrero (Erik) of Monticello; her siblings: Jose and Maria Rodriguez, Oswaldo and Claudina Rodriguez, Martha Rodriguez, and Hilda Rodriguez, all of Florida; a dear friend Elayne Miller; many nieces and nephews; as well as her former husband: Manuel Marrero & his wife Maria, and their children, Diana and Jennifer; and former in-laws: Frank and Aleyda Corces, all of whom remained close to her. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by a son: Manuel Marrero of Monticello; her sisters: Silvia Rodriguez and Carmen (Armando) Triana of Florida; as well as her brothers: Oscar Rodriguez of Florida and Humberto Rodriguez of Liberty. Mima (mom) I love you very much, you will always remain in my heart and memories. I am proud and fortunate to be your son. Thank you for always being there, and being my mom.
