Roger Lee Walker of Monticello was called to rest on Monday, February 17, 2014. He was 70 years of age.
The eldest son of the late Dosie and Cecelia Walker, Roger was born March 3, 1943 in Monticello, NY. He attended school in the Monticello School District where he eventually went on to work for the Monticello Housing Authority until his retirement.
Predeceased before his death was his father: Dosie Walker; mother: Cecelia Walker; wife: Orelia Walker; brothers: Freddy, Joseph and Thomas Walker; and two sons: Roger Lee Walker Jr. and Rodney Walker.
He is survived by his four children: Sherry, April, Aaron and Duane; six granddaughters: Jessica, Iris, Eryn Rachel, Tishona, Tiffany and Seana; three grandsons: Michael, Joshua and Zakari; two brothers: Robert and Ira Gene Walker; two sisters: Martha Hargress and Mary Steele; as well as a host of family members and friends who loved him greatly and will miss him dearly.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, February 24 at 12:00 noon at the Bethlehem Temple Church, 93 Fairground Road in Monticello with Bishop Mervin Armstead officiating. Family & friends are invited to gather at the church from 10am until the time of the service. Burial will follow at the Liberty Cemetery.
