Obituary of Vernon Edward Basso

Vernon Edward Basso, 61 February 2, 1951-July 1, 2012 Cold Spring, NY Vernon E. Basso, a former carmen for the Metro North Transit Authority, and a longtime resident of the area, died in the early morning hours of July 1st, 2012, with his family by his side. He was 61. The son of Joseph Basso and Elsie Tomlin Basso, Vernon was born in Cold Spring, New York on February 4, 1951. He served our nation in the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam Era. He is survived by his mother, Elsie Basso, of Cold Spring; his wife, Mary Basso, of Livingston Manor; his two daughters, Kelly Jamil-Gray, and her husband George, of Liberty, and Renee Sabatini, and her husband Nick, of Hopewell Junction; 1 brother, Ralph Basso, of Cold Spring; his 6 grandchildren, Katlyn, Rachel, Jordan, Nicholas, Ella, and Kamran; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Vernon was predeceased by his father, Joseph Basso, and his brother Joseph Basso. Visitation will be held on Friday, July 6, 2012 from 9:00am-12:00pm at the VanInwegen-Kenny, Inc. Funeral Home, 111 Sullivan Street in Wurtsboro. His funeral service will be held immediately following the visitation at the funeral home, at 12:00pm. Graveside services will be held Saturday, July 7, 2012 at 9:00am, at the Cold Spring Cemetery, Cold Spring, New York. Arrangements under the direction of the VanInwegen-Kenny, Inc.
