Gladys Mae Richnere Rembert, 73, of Monticello, New York passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 2, 2012 at home with her family after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born February 3, 1939 in New Orleans, Louisiana to the late Percy and Melvina Ned Richnere. She was predeceased by her three sisters Rita Myles, Gloria Myles and Ruby Johnson of Louisiana. After graduating with a degree in Nursing, Gladys became a Primary Care Nurse in the Cardiac Care Unit at Catskill Regional Medical Center (Community General). She moved on to become a Case Management Nurse for the last 12 years of her career and retired after 40 years of service in the nursing field. Gladys was involved in several organizations throughout her life. Her community affiliations included: Member of the First Baptist Church of Monticello, NY; Past matron of Starlight Chapter #74 in Fallsburg, NY; served as secretary for the Daughters of Ruth #1233 of the IBPOE of W for 19 years; and NAACP for several years. Gladys is survived by her husband of 34 years, Albert Rembert; five sons Pierre Finn and his wife Muriel of Virginia, Rene Finn of New Jersey, Dwayne Finn of Monticello, Johnathan Finn and his wife Lillian of Schenectady, Sean Finn and his wife April of Florida; two nieces Celeste Joseph of South Carolina and Tanya Davis of Fishkill; one nephew Sedric Johnson; 15 grandchildren Bianca, Sharina, Shaunte, Patricia, Sean, Shaquana, Julian, Marsall, Samantha, Kenya, Johnathan, Jr., Jessica, Iris, Eryn, Seana, one grand nephew Aaron Michael, and a whole host of Eastern Star sisters and friends. Visitation will be held on Tuesday May 8, 2012 at VanInwegen-Kenny Inc. Funeral Home, 401 Broadway, Monticello, NY from 6 to 9 p.m. with an Eastern Star Service at 7 p.m. A second visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. with Home going Services immediately following on Wednesday May 9, 2012 at the First Baptist Church of Monticello, 28 Liberty St., Monticello, NY with Rev. James Matthews officiating. Burial will follow at Liberty Cemetery. Donations may be made to CRMC Oncology Unit, co/o Mary O'Shea Siegel, Box 800, Harris, NY 12742.
