Obituary of Joseph Woods

Joseph Woods Jr. was born on May 22, 1942 to the late Joseph and Lue Alice Woods, in Harlem, N.Y. Following a short illness, Joseph succumbed to his illness and went home to be with the lord on February 11, 2013. He was a Graduate of Brooklyn Automotive H.S. In 1975 he started to work at the Brooklyn Developmental Center in Brooklyn, NY as a Mental Hygiene Therapy Aid. Joseph decided to relocate to the Monticello area and started working in 1989 at the D.T.C. Center for Discovery and obtain the position as Program Coordinator. He also Worked at the Sullivan ARC facility as a Direct Support Professional. Joseph devoted his entire career to assisting the Mentally Challenged/Developmentally Disabled. He was very passionate about his profession. Joseph was a very lively person and generous to everyone. Joseph was loved and respected by his family and Friends. He loved life and living it. He leaves to cherish in his loving memory; his brother, Melvin Woods and his wife, Ruth; his sister, Darlene Lewis and her husband, Jessie; his niece, Charmaign Breadon and her husband, Alton; his nephew, Gregory White and his wife, Shandula; and his very Special Friend, Lorraine Bost; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and other devoted relatives and friends. Joseph Woods will be missed by all who knew and loved him. Family & friends are invited to gather Sunday, February 17, 2013 from 2-6pm at the VanInwegen-Kenny Funeral Home, 401 Broadway, Monticello. A second viewing will take place from 9-11am Monday morning February 18, at the First Baptist Church of South Fallsburg, 5258 Main Street, South Fallsburg. His funeral service will follow at 11am with Pastor Norman Graves & Pastor Annie Green officiating. Burial will take place in Rock Ridge Cemetery, East Broadway, Monticello.
