Obituary of James Michael Harrold

James Michael Harrold, a financial analyst for Avalone Research, and formerly of Boca Raton, Florida, died Tuesday, February 14, 2012 at Northern Manor Multi Care Center in Nanuet after a courageous battle with Lou Gehrig's Disease (ALS). He was 54. The son of the late Victor and Mary Lou Harrold, he was born June 9, 1957 in Houston, TX. Mike received a Bachelor's Degree in Physics from Jacksonville University and a Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Florida. He went on to graduate from New York Tech with a Masters in Business Administration in 1991. He worked for United Technologies/Norden Systems (submarines and defense contracts) as a systems analyst. In 1993 he joined the investment firm of MA Berman in Great Neck as a financial analyst and later joined Avalone Research Group to continue his loved field of stocks and investments. He was also a vice-president of IEEE Engineering Society in Palm Beach County, FL. He resided at Northern Manor in Nanuet for the past eight years in the ventilation unit surrounded by loving nurses and staff. He is survived by his daughter: Elliana Harrold of Wurtsboro; his wife Jill Auer Harrold of Wurtsboro; a brother: Charles Harrold of Jacksonville, FL; his stepfather: Eugene Shaw of Jacksonville; and several nieces and nephews. Family and friends are invited to gather on Friday, February 17 from 2-4 & 7-9pm at the VanInwegen-Kenny, Inc. Funeral Home, 111 Sullivan Street in Wurtsboro. His funeral mass will be celebrated on Saturday, February 18 at 11:00am at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, 180 Sullivan Street in Wurtsboro with Fr. Peter Madori officiating. Interment of his ashes will be held at St. Joseph's Cemetery in Wurtsboro at a later date.
