Minnie "Auntie" Washington, 67, of Monticello, New York passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 29, 2012 at home surrounded by her family and friends. She was born February, 20, 1944 in Fort Deposit, Alabama to the late Ferrie and Ellie Patton, Sr. Minnie was the eldest of 10 children. She was also preceded in death by our brother, Terry Patton. Minnie, a Licensed Practical Nurse of 39 years, was most recently employed by the Catskill Regional Medical Center Outpatient Oncology Department. She retired in 2011. Minnie, our "shero", had an intense love and dedication for family and friends. She will be remembered for her legendary generosity and kindness to all - she will also be remembered for her big smile and warm heart. If you really wanted to see her smile, ask her about her granddaughter, Taty. She was involved in several organizations throughout her life including the American Cancer Society, Sullivan County NAACP, Hurleyville Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary, Ruth Temple #1274 and Starlight Chapter #74 Order Eastern Star. Minnie was an active member of the Monticello First Baptist Church where she served on the nurse's board and other committees. Minnie is survived by her husband of 48 years, Ollie Washington and sons, Darrick and Tory Washington all of Monticello, NY; granddaughter, Tatyana Washington of Monticello, NY; three sisters, Mary Patton McNeil of Middletown, NY; Patricia Patton Williams and her husband Stanley of Rochester, NY; Sandra Patton Martin of Hurleyville, NY; Five brothers, Joseph Patton and wife Alice and Ellie Patton Jr. and wife Brenda all of Monticello, NY; Oscar Patton and wife Cassandra of Middletown, NY; Nate Patton and wife Colleen and Travis Patton all of Bradenton, Fl., also numerous loving nieces and nephews, and a special long time friend, Gladys Rembert. Visitation will be held on Friday, February 3, 2012 at the VanInwegen-Kenny Inc. Funeral Home, 401 Broadway, Monticello, NY from 6PM to 9PM with an Eastern Star Service at 7PM . A second visitation will be from 10AM-11AM with Homegoing Services immediately following on Saturday, February 4, 2012 at the First Baptist Church of Monticello, 28 Liberty St., Monticello, NY with Rev.
