Obituary of Lois Elaine Meyer

Lois Elaine Meyer entered into eternal life on Saturday, January 14, 2012 after a brave battle with cancer. She was 65 years of age.
Lois was born to John & Lucy (Osinga) Vander Ploeg on August 31, 1946 in Hackensack, NJ. She was wed to Rev. Robert Meyer on October 23, 1976.
She is survived by her husband and three beloved children: Richard Van Erem and his fiance Missy Morales of Newburgh, John Van Erem and his companion Jennifer Lane of Ellenville, and Carrie Germano and her husband Terrence of Walden. She leaves six cherished grandchildren: Courtney, Richard & Jared Van Erem, Leah & Norah Germano and a step grandson Tyler Marsh; brothers: Donald Vander Ploeg and his wife Edith of Randolph, NJ, Robert Vander Ploeg and his wife Susan of River Edge, NJ, and Edward Vander Ploeg and his wife Linda of Scottsdale, AZ; a sister: Joan Haak and her husband Leonard of Oradell, NJ; and many nieces and nephews along with many dear friends. Lois is predeceased by both of her parents, beloved Aunt Sadie Osinga, and a brother John Vander Ploeg.
Lois was a devoted member of the Community Church of Wurtsboro where she was the coordinator for The Women's Prayer Breakfast and writer of the monthly newsletter. Lois had been a member of the Reformed Church in America since 1980. She was a Deacon, Elder, past President of the Classis of Orange and Chair of the Congregational Care Committee of Classis.
She retired as Administrative Assistant of Packaged Lighting Systems, Walden and was an avid reader and loved gardening. Lois was a humble woman who could take pride in the fact that she was an inspiration to everyone whose lives were touched by hers, and she will be missed by many.
Family and friends are invited to gather on Thursday, January 19 from 2-4 & 7-9pm at the VanInwegen-Kenny, Inc. Funeral Home, 111 Sullivan Street in Wurtsboro. Her funeral service will be held on Friday, January 20 at 10:00am at the Community Church of Wurtsboro, 134 Sullivan Street in Wurtsboro. Burial will follow at Sylvan Cemetery in Wurtsboro.
The family requests that any donations made in Lois' name be made to the Community Church of Wurtsboro, P.O. Box 487, Wurtsboro, NY 12790 or to Hospice of Orange and Sullivan Counties, 800 Stony Brook Court, Newburgh, NY 12550.
