Toyo Allen of Bloomingburg, a retired cook for the Middletown School District, died Saturday, January 7, 2012 at her daughter's home in Middletown surrounded by her family. She was 77. The daughter of the late Minoru Tsuchiya and Ura Yoshii, she was born February 9, 1934 in Yokosuka City, Japan. She was the widow of Sherwood W. Allen who predeceased her on June 25, 2006. She is survived by two sons: Elwood Allen and his wife Jeanett of Wilmington, NC, and Carl Allen of Bloomingburg; a daughter Wanda Tucker and her husband Steven of Middletown; three grandchildren: Tabetha Allen, Nichole Tucker and Terri Tucker; three great grandchildren: Makayla, Andrew and Jeffrey Jr.; two step-sisters: Michiyo Kitayamo and Shizuko Iwasaki, both of Japan; and several nieces, nephews and in-laws. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 10 from 2-4 & 7-9pm at the VanInwegen-Kenny, Inc. Funeral Home, 111 Sullivan Street in Wurtsboro. Her funeral service will be held on Wednesday, January 11 at 11:00am at the funeral home with Pastor Robert Hewitt officiating. Burial will follow at Bloomingburg Rural Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be sent to Hospice of Orange & Sullivan Counties, 800 Stony Brook Court, Newburgh, NY 12550. Arrangements under the direction of the VanInwegen-Kenny, Inc.
