How many days did we spend together at the Concord Ski slopes?? How many nights did I watch you plow the lots at the Homestead?? How many nights did I have the privilege to serve you my friend?? How many times did my kids call the name of " Uncle Bob "??!! Yes you were all of the above and more. Yet I think of you today with that big grin and the snow falling just the way you lived and loved it, you were a legend and will be sadly missed by ALL who knew you.-M

Maureen, We are so sorry we are out of town and will miss Bob's memorial service. Please feel our hugs even though we are not there to deliver them in person. Bob was a real treasure and we will miss him very much. We will hold his memory dear to our hearts along with the many memories of fun times and great skiing advice. So much a part of our lives as a true friend...sharing a birthday with Rob...and sharing so much LIFE. Because of timing and illness, we are so sorry not to be with family at this time. Bob was one of the kindest, most selfless individuals I ever met. His pleasant demeanor and zest for life made him an icon around the region and especially Holiday Mountain. Growing up during the 1970's required that you ski at Holiday if you wanted any sort of social life during the long winter months. Bob was the guy to see for everything from skis to apparel, and always gave everyone a GREAT DEAL! He would let you "work off" gear you could not afford in the rental shop. He was a true humanitarian. One night during a blizzard, all the roads were closed and many of our parents could not get down the Bridgeville Hill to the ski hill to pick us up. He cheerfully loaded up his yellow blazer with firewood and drove all the kids home safe. Bob also took great joy in introducing young skiers to Hunter Mountain. Many times over the course of the winter he would load up the Ski Club van and haul us all up through the gorge, over Big Indian, for a day on the big mountain. Bob was a true gentleman and I consider myself very fortunate to have known him during the "Bob Whipple Ski Shop" era. An era that will live on in the hearts and minds of anyone who experienced it.
