Obituary of Frank Joseph Salamone

Frank Joseph Salamone of Wurtsboro, a retired Executive Vice President for Merrill Lynch in New York City and Saber Communications in Wurtsboro, N.Y., died unexpectedly on Thursday, December 1, 2011 at the Westchester Medical Center in Valhalla. He was 63.
The son of Vincent Salamone and the late Irene Imbriale Salamone, he was born October 17, 1948 in Brooklyn.
Frank was a 32 year member and current President of the Wurtsboro Fire Company, a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Wurtsboro, and a standing member of the PFC Jerry Evans Memorial Scholarship Fund. In recent years, Frank also enjoyed being a substitute teacher in the Monticello Middle School.
Frank was an avid lifetime train fan and Lionel collector, who loved his family and enjoyed spending time with his children and his grandchildren, whether it was at his home on David Lane, in Texas visiting his daughter and grandchildren, or with his sons on the deck in Fire Island.
He is survived by his wife of 40 years: JoAnn Marie Salamone, at home; a daughter: Karen Adolff & her husband Donald of Frisco, TX; a son: Frank Salamone & his partner Ed Harnaga of Manhattan; two grandchildren: Jennifer and Andrew Adolff; his father: Vincent Salamone of Staten Island; a brother: Denis Salamone & his wife Joanne of Ridgewood, NJ; his father-in-law: Salvatore Facciponte; a sister-in-law: Patricia Durso & her husband Lawrence; and four nephews.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, December 4 from 2-4 & 7-9pm at the VanInwegen-Kenny, Inc. Funeral Home, 111 Sullivan Street in Wurtsboro. His funeral mass will be celebrated on Monday, December 5 at 11:00am at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, 180 Sullivan Street in Wurtsboro with Fr. Peter Madori officiating. Burial will follow at the St. Joseph's Cemetery in Wurtsboro.
