Robert A. Gilmore of Monticello, a longtime area resident, died Saturday, November 12, 2011 at Achieve Rehab & Nursing Facility in Liberty. He was 85. Son of the late Sylvester Gilmore & Rosa Bell Bauers, he was born on December 29, 1925 in Alabama. Robert worked as an environmental service technician for several Libraries in New York City. He was also a veteran of the United States Navy, having served time during WWII. Survivors include his stepson: James Davis of Monticello; a nephew David Koen of Monticello; and a cousin, Perry Hill also of Monticello. Visitation will be held on the morning of Friday, November 18, from 11-12 at the VanInwegen-Kenny Funeral Home, 401 Broadway in Monticello. His funeral service will follow at 12pm at the funeral home. Rev. James Matthews will officiate. Burial with military honors will be at the Sullivan Co. Veterans Cemetery, Sunset Drive, Liberty, NY.
