Obituary of William Lloyd Thorpe

William Lloyd Thorpe, a retired lineman for Local #1249 and lifelong resident of the area passed away peacefully January 21, 2013 in Harris, NY. He was 79. Son of the late Robert Thorpe & Eva Kanoff Thorpe, William was born on May 18, 1933 in Port Jervis, NY. Bill worked for Local #1249 out of Syracuse, NY and was very proud to be a lineman for as long as he was. He was also a 60 year member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW). He loved the outdoors whether it be hunting, fishing or just enjoying nature. He is survived by his beloved wife of 44 years, Naoma at home; his 15 children: William, Kenny, Robert, David, Jace, Dale, Richard, Francis, Jamie, Janet, Kathy, Sharon, Judy, Robin and Wendy; his three sisters: Edith, Carol and Eva; and many grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. In addition to his parents he was predeceased by his sons; Michael and Christopher; and his brothers, Robert and Donald. Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 24, 2013 from 6-9pm at the VanInwegen-Kenny Funeral Home, 401 Broadway in Monticello. His funeral service will be held on Friday morning at 11:00am at the funeral home with Rev. Jack Polin officiating. Burial will follow at the Sparrowbush Pine Hill Cemetery. Memorial contributions can be made to the Forestburgh Fire Department, P.O. Box 61, Forestburgh, NY 12777.
