Obituary of Edward T. Kelly

Edward Thomas Kelly died Saturday, September 10, 2011 at his home in Wurtsboro surrounded by his family. He was 68.
Ed was born August 4, 1943 in Long Island City, the youngest of the four children of Edward Kelly and Bridget Brady Kelly, natives of Ireland. He married Linda Goett on January 31, 1965 in St. Joseph's Church, Long Island City.
He was an employee of Consolidated Edison, where he began as a Heavy Equipment Operator and retired as Senior Coordinator Outside Field Representative. He was a member of the Woodhaven Athletic Club and the United Executive Democratic Club of Queens and served as Entertainment Chairman of both Organizations and was a member of the Queens County Democratic Committee. Ed was also a member and Past President of the Holy Name Society of St. Joseph's Parish in Wurtsboro, a Charter Member of Mamakating Council #14560 of the Knights of Columbus, a member of the Mamakating Senior Citizens Club and the Irish Heritage Festival of Orange County. He was a long time friend of Bill W.
The family would like to thank Dr. Jeffrey Stewart and his staff for their kindness. They also give thanks to the Hospice of Orange & Sullivan Counties. The care given from the nurses, social workers and volunteers was more than anyone could ever expect.
He is survived by his wife Linda at home; his daughter Theresa Sanchez and her husband Freddy of Stormville; his sons Edward and his fiancee Marilyn Brennan of Flushing, and James of Rockaway; his grandchildren Jessica and Victoria Sanchez and Joseph Kelly; and his nephews and nieces John Moseman, Karen and Gerard LaMarsh, and Chad and Scott Goett and Kirn Goett Seliger. He is also survived by his brother John Kelly of Harriman; and his sister Lenore Kelly and her husband William Setzler of Seaford and Manhattan. He was predeceased by his parents and his sister Margaret Moseman.
Visitation will be held on Monday, September 12 from 2-4 & 7-9pm at the VanInwegen-Kenny, Inc. Funeral Home, 111 Sullivan Street in Wurtsboro. His funeral mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, September 13 at 11:00am at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, 180 Sullivan Street in Wurtsboro with Fr. Peter Madori officiating. Burial will be at St. Joseph's Cemetery in Wurtsboro.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Hospice of Orange & Sullivan Counties, 800 Stony Brook Court, Newburgh, NY 12550.
