J. Robert Westerman, of Wanaksink Lake, Rock Hill, formerly of Walden, NY, went to be with the Lord on July 27, 2011. He was born on January 17, 1933 in Goshen, NY, son of Raymond and Gladys Weir Westerman. Bob was a retired industrial arts teacher in the Newburgh School District. He later worked part time at the Monticello Trading Post. He served in the U.S. Army in Germany during the Korean War. He was a devoted member of the Rock Hill United Methodist Church and is rejoicing in heaven with his eternal family. He also attended the Rock Hill Church of the Nazarene. Bob was a faithful servant of the church and enjoyed volunteering for the church and missions. He was an avid gardener and shared his bounty with family and friends. Bob enjoyed camping and driving around the country with the family and camper. In his later years, he loved to care for his two beloved grandchildren, Ashley and Brandon. In addition to his grandchildren, he is survived by his son, Bob Westerman and his wife, Christine, and daughter Barbara Mancroni and her husband, Wayne, all of Rock Hill. He is also survived by his brothers, George and his wife, Irene Westerman of Denville, NJ, Bill and his wife, Ann Westerman of Ft. Myers, FL and Roger and his wife, Sandy Westerman of Oneonta, AL, his sisters-in-law, Dottie Henry and Midge Greenwell, also of Rock Hill, as well as several nieces and nephews. Bob was predeceased by his wife Sue, his parents and his brother-in-law James Donald Henry. There will be a memorial service at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 31, 2011 at the Rock Hill United Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Rock Hill United Methodist Church or the Rock Hill Volunteer Ambulance Corps. Arrangements under the direction of the VanInwegen-Kenny, Inc.
