Obituary of Joyce A. Grudzias

Joyce A. Grudzias of Monticello, a retired registered nurse for the Sullivan County Jail, died Tuesday, July 5, 2011 at the ORMC-Arden Hill Campus in Goshen. She was 72. The daughter of the late James Coon and Beatrice Cooper Coon, she was born March 14, 1939 in Port Jervis. She was the widow of Theodore B. Grudzias, who predeceased her on August 31, 2004. A member of the Immaculate Conception Church in Woodbourne, Joyce was an remarkable woman and an amazing mother who influenced everyone she came in contact with. She will be greatly missed by all. She is survived by her three daughters: Lisa Acton-Sisco & her husband Anthony of South Fallsburg, Debbie Whitted & her husband Jeffrey of Liberty and Terri Dibble & her husband Bob of Ithaca; a sister: Patricia McCausland & her husband Don of Connecticut; eight grandchildren: Mariah, Caleb, Robert, Darryl, Alicia, Diedre, Susan and Tabitha; 4 great grandchildren; a sister-in-law: Sophie Brown of Seymour, CT; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by her son: Jimmy Joe; and a sister: Connie Mosher. Visitation will be held on Sunday, July 10 from 2-4 & 7-9pm at the VanInwegen-Kenny, Inc. Funeral Home, 401 Broadway in Monticello. Her funeral service will be held on Monday, July 11 at 11:00am at the funeral home. Burial will follow at the Rural Valley Cemetery in Cuddebackville.
