John E. Magie of Forestburgh, a retired auto mechanic, and lifelong resident of the area, died Monday, June 13, 2011 at his brother's home in Monticello. He was 87. The son of the late Samuel Magie and Georgia Cantrell Magie, he was born September 3, 1923 in Bridgeville. He was the widower of both Ann and Ruth. John was a veteran of the United States Army serving in World War II. He is survived by a brother: Walter Magie & his wife Lenora of Monticello; a sister: Alice Irwin of Bradley; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 16 from 5-8pm at the VanInwegen-Kenny, Inc. Funeral Home, 401 Broadway in Monticello. His funeral service will be held on Friday, June 17 at 11:00am at the funeral home with Fr. Ivan Csete officiating. Burial with military honors will follow in the Woodbourne Reformed Cemetery.
