Obituary of Paul Michael Mess

Paul Michael Mess, a truck driver and longtime resident of the area, died Sunday, April 10, 2011 at his home in Wurtsboro. He was 69. The son of the late Robert Francis Mess and Grace Dixon Mess, he was born February 25, 1942 in Newark, NJ. An avid grandfather, golfer and gardener, Paul served in United States Air Force and was a member of St. Joseph's Church in Wurtsboro where he was an usher. He is survived by his life partner: Anita Auer of Wurtsboro; his children: Mark Mess & his wife Evelyn of Somerville, NJ, Brian Mess & his wife Maria of Somerville, NJ, Sarah Mess & her husband Manuel Delapaz of Branchburg, NJ, Jackie Rohloff of Wurtsboro, and Jill Harrold & her husband Mike of Wurtsboro; four grandchildren: Veronica Mess, Paul Vincent Delapaz, Charleigh Rohloff and Elliana Harrold; a brother: Robert Mess of Brick, NJ; a sister: Miriam Derbyshire of North Carolina; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a brother: George Mess; and a sister: Nancy Weltner. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 12 from 2-4 & 7-9pm at the VanInwegen-Kenny, Inc. Funeral Home, 111 Sullivan Street in Wurtsboro. His funeral mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, April 13 at 11:00am at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, 180 Sullivan Street in Wurtsboro with Fr. Peter Madori officiating. Burial will follow at St. Joseph's Cemetery in Wurtsboro. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to a charity of one's choice.
