Maria America Guillermo Marin of Monticello died peacefully with her closest family & friends by her side on Friday, February 11, 2011 at the Westchester Medical Center in Valhalla. She was 68.
The daughter of the late Blas and Barbara Marin, she was born December 25, 1942 in Viterbo Caldas, Colombia.
America was an extraordinary woman who's warmth & kindness touched the hearts of many. She is survived by her husband Nicolas Guillermo and three children: Sheila Guillermo, Marvin Guillermo and Lisbeth Guillermo, five grandchildren: Sergio, Nicole, Nathalee, Khayllynn and Kenji. Also survived are her many brothers and sisters in Colombia: Alcides, Arabia, Aura, Anibal, Alfonso, Ariel, Amanda, and locally: Aleida, Amparo and her husband Julio along with nieces and nephews Cheryl, Charlene and Jonathan here in the United States and many more in Colombia, all of whom she treated as her own children.
Visitation will be held Sunday, February 13 from 6-9pm at the VanInwegen-Kenny, Inc. Funeral Home, 401 Broadway in Monticello. Her funeral mass will be celebrated on Monday, February 14 at 2:00pm at St. Peter's Church, Broadway and Liberty Street in Monticello.
