Obituary of Charles Merritts

Charles Merritts of Glen Wild, a former EMT for the Mamakating First Aid Squad, died Monday, January 7, 2013 at the Orange Regional Medical Center in Middletown. He was 62. The son of the late James Merritts and Mary Dippolito Merritts, he was born April 19, 1950 in the Bronx. Charlie worked for Eastern Correctional Facility as a cook for over 20 years. He then worked for 8 years for the Mamakating First Aid Squad before retiring in 2010. He was also a life member of the Rock Hill Volunteer Ambulance Corps and a veteran of the United States Navy. He is survived by his life partner Suzanne Kennett, at home; a son: Clinton Merritts & his wife Brenda of Michigan; a daughter: Kelly Pazeretsky & her husband Terry of Houston, TX; two granddaughters: Ashlyn and Breanna; a sister: Loretta Seybert & her husband Peter of Washington; and two stepsons: Joseph and Michael Hand of Rock Hill. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a son: Todd Merritts. Family and friends are invited to gather on Friday, January 11 from 2-4 & 7-9pm at the VanInwegen-Kenny, Inc. Funeral Home, 111 Sullivan Street in Wurtsboro. His funeral mass will be celebrated on Saturday, January 12 at 12:15pm at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, 180 Sullivan Street in Wurtsboro with Fr.
