Obituary of Marion Elizabeth Blades

Marion Elizabeth Blades of Phillipsport, a homemaker and longtime resident of the area, died peacefully on Saturday, December 11, 2010 at St. Teresa's Nursing Home in Middletown. She was 96. The daughter of the late Marcus Potter and Alice Courtright Potter, she was born May 8, 1914 in Wurtsboro. Marion was an active member of the Mamakating Methodist Church where she played the piano and served with the Ladies' Aid Society; and was also a volunteer at the Ellenville Community Hospital. She was the widow of Frank Blades who predeceased her on December 14, 1994. Our mom will be remembered for her faith in the Lord and raising her family in a Christian home with unconditional love for her family and friends. She is survived by a daughter: Karen Tolcz of Wurtsboro; two sons: David Blades & his wife Pat of Lewis, NY and Allen Blades & his wife Vivian of Port Orange, FL; six loving grandchildren: Allen Blades (Joyce), Michael Blades, Amie Alexander (Michael), John Blades (Andrea), Katrina Horton (Taalib) and Drew Blades; seven great grandchildren; a brother: Mark Potter of Westtown; a sister: Christine Bock of Huguenot; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by three brothers: Walter, Henry and Richard Potter. Visitation will be held (today) Monday, December 13 from 2-4 & 7-9pm at the VanInwegen-Kenny, Inc. Funeral Home, 111 Sullivan Street in Wurtsboro. Her funeral service will be held on Tuesday, December 14 at 11:00am at the funeral home with Pastor Camille Regholec officiating.
