Obituary of Donald L. McKenney

Donald Lewis McKenney, a retired plumber for Rose & Douglas and Thornton Electric in Ellenville, died Sunday, October 31, 2010 at St. Teresa's Nursing Home in Middletown. He was 84. The son of the late Clifford McKenney and Mary Myles McKenney, he was born October 9, 1926 in Brownsville, PA. A veteran of the United States Army serving in World War II, Donald was a member and former commander of the Mamakating VFW Post #4947 and a member of the Mamakating American Legion Post #1266. He was also a member of the Mamakating Seniors, Wanaksink Lake Club and a former member of the Summitville Fire Co. He is survived by his wife: Elsie Beadle McKenney, at home; a daughter: Mary Quick and her husband Danny of Rock Hill; two sons: Glen McKenney of Hyde Park and James McKenney & his wife Ann of Columbia, SC; five grandchildren: Joshua, Casey, Susan, Erin and Kaylene; a brother: David McKenney of West Brownsville, PA; a sister: Loretta Plichta of Redding, CA; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by two brothers: Kenneth and Jack McKenney. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, November 3 from 2-4 & 7-9pm at the VanInwegen-Kenny, Inc. Funeral Home, 111 Sullivan Street in Wurtsboro. His funeral service will be held on Thursday, November 4 at 11:00am at the funeral home with Pastor Camille Regholec officiating.
