Obituary of Robert Jackson

Robert "Bob" Jackson a long time resident of Monticello, NY for most of his life died September 18, 2010 peacefully with his loving wife and children at home. He had a long and courageous fight with lung cancer but ultimately lost the battle. He was 71 years of age. He loved his family and spent as much time as possible with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He stressed education with all the children. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 50 years Matilda Jackson of Monticello, NY and children: ST. Julian Washington and Dianne of Columbia, SC, Deloris Johnson and James of New Rochelle, NY, Denise Campbell of Poughkeepsie, NY, Sheila Jackson Smith and Maurice Smith of Monticello, NY, Sharon Jackson of Monticello, NY and Steven Jackson and Renee' of Monticello, NY. His foster children include Laurie Ann Jones (Michael), Belinda Raymos, Christina Jones, Zena Mizell, Arnold Mizell, Anita Clark, Cassandra and Michael Stewart; 20 grandchildren & 9 great grandchildren. He is also survived by one sister Elizabeth Cameron of Baldwin, FL, and one brother Melvin Jackson of Miami, FL; special friend Carlos Gilmore of Monticello, and a great number of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends and He was predeceased by his parents Willie & Willie Mae Jackson, three brothers: Edward Jackson, Butch Jackson and Willis Jackson; a sister Ruth Oliver and a granddaughter Shannon McGinnis. Visitation will be held from 7-9 p.m. Thursday, September 23, 2010 at VanInwegen-Kenny Funeral Home, 401 Broadway, Monticello, NY. The funeral service will take place at 12 p.m. Friday, September 24, 2010 at the First Baptist Church, 28 Liberty Street, Monticello, NY with the Rev. James Matthews presiding.
