Alma Jean Greene was called home on Thursday Nov 21, 2024 at MidHudson Valley Medical Center in Poughkeepsie, NY. Alma was a retired medical transporter for the old Walnut Hill/Archieve Rehabilitation Center. She is the daughter of the late Frank White and Leola Zackery. She was born March 5, 1946 in Avon Park, FL, grew up in South River, NJ, and attended school at East Brunswick, NJ.

As we remember her life, we find comfort in the memories she created and the love she shared with all those around her. Alma Jean was a very kind and compassionate mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, big sister, aunt, and good friend. Known for her cooking, everyone who knew her loved her food and always wished for a plate. She enjoyed going to bingo and playing games for many years. Her enduring compassion and kindness will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Alma was predeceased by her parents, her grandparents James and Irene Gardner of South River NJ, her husband John Henry Greene, daughters Robin Simmons and Sherry Pace, granddaughter Sha’cara Whitehead all of Monticello, NY, sister Delores Fair of Somerset, NJ, and brother Curtis Zackery of Perth Amboy, NJ. 

 

Left to cherish her loving memories are her children Clayton Zackery of Freehold, NJ, Lee Willie Pace, Wanda Pace, Alice Simmons, and Kizzy Greene all of Monticello, NY; her grandchildren who she raised, Lakeshia Cuison Powell, Shamell Moore, and Shamira Moore all of Monticello, NY; siblings Brenda "Peaches" Small (Tommy) of Covington, GA, Hazel Kirkpatrick of Edison, NJ, Daisy Dedeaux (Percy) of Box Elder, SD,
Richard Zackery of Freehold, NJ, Robert, Ronnie, Michael, and Jeffery Zackery all of South River, NJ. Alma had a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and friends who loved her with a passion.
