Obituary of Sharon R. Ackerman-McGriff

Sharon Ruth Ackerman-McGriff, a lifelong resident of Monticello, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, October 21, 2024.  She was 38 years old.

The daughter of Audrey Ackerman and the late Richard Ackerman, she was born January 20, 1986 at Community General Hospital in Harris.

Sharon graduated from Monticello High School in 2004.  She was well known for ringing the red kettle bell for the Salvation Army during the holidays.  Sharon was a devoted wife, daughter, mother, sister and friend.

She is survived by her husband: Edward McGriff of Monticello; her children: Richard Ackerman, Ronald Doolittle, Anna Ackerman, Makayla Brown and Miles Ackerman-Brown, all of Monticello; her mother Audrey Ackerman of Monticello; her brother: Robert Ackerman of Binghamton; her adopted mother: Alba Torres of Queens; her mother-in-law: Carolyn Bacon of Middletown; and many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Sharon was predeceased by her father, Richard Ackerman; her maternal grandparents, Leonard and Anna Fruchtman; and several aunts and uncles.

Memorial visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 30 from 12:00 to 1:00pm at the VanInwegen-Kenny Funeral Home, 401 Broadway in Monticello, with a prayer service starting at 1pm.
