Obituary of Cora Lynne Ayers
Cora Lynne Ayers, affectionately known as "Suzy," graced this world on June 11, 1964. She was born to the late Marvin Ayers, Sr. and Barbara Bell in the Bronx, NY. On September 29, 2024, Cora transitioned from time into eternity.
Cora’s educational journey led her to William Howard Taft High School in Bronx, NY, and she later obtained her GED. Cora was a dedicated Caregiver until she suffered a back injury that made it difficult for her continue work in that field. Recently, Cora was in the process of pursuing her Peer Advocate certification, a testament to her unyielding spirit. An avid reader, a poet, and a movie enthusiast, Cora found joy in the simple pleasures of life. Her passion for knitting and her beloved cat Moo-Moo brought her immense happiness, but her true fulfillment came from aiding those in need, particularly individuals in recovery. Known for her unwavering compassion, infectious laughter, and a remarkable sense of humor, Cora's presence lit up the lives of those around her.
Cora’s legacy lives on through her four children: Arthur (Maritza) Ayers of Monticello, NY, Dashawn Moody and Kadeja Moody both of Staten Island, NY, and Michael Williams of New York, NY. She also leaves behind her grandchildren, Isaiah Ayers and Xavier Keith Moody; her brothers, Marvin (Carmen) Ayers, Jr. and James Ayers; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, and friends. She was predeceased by her parents; her grandmother, Porthenia Bell; her daughter, Barbara Ayers; and her son, Damian Ayers.
Cora's funeral service will be held Saturday, October 12th, 2024 at 11am at VanInwegen Kenny Funeral Home, located at 401 Broadway, Monticello, NY with Pastor Michael Williams presiding. Viewing will be from 10am to 11am.
