Obituary of Eva A. Godley

Eva Ann Godley, died peacefully at home surrounded by her loving husband Carlos on Monday, September 16^th, 2024. She was 72.

The daughter of Willie and Mary Godley, she was born February 24^th, 1952 in Washington, NC.

Everyone who knew Eva knew of her mastery in the kitchen. If you knew her well, you shared many delicious meals over her kitchen table. She loved her alone time, collecting unique collectables, watching old Western movies and bird watching. Eva loved birds and would often be found sitting in front of her window watching them. She was small in stature, but larger than life to all who loved her. Eva had an endearing term for her loved ones, calling them “Darling” or “Ms. Thang.”

Eva is survived by her loving and devoted husband Carlos Torres, her brother Reginald (Andrea) Godley all of Monticello, New York, as well as a host of Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, Nieces and Nephews. She was proceeded in death by both of her parents, Willie and Mary Godley, her son Omar, Sister Hattie, and Brothers Willie, Donnie, and Larry, as well as her Niece Osheita.

Memorial visitation will be held on Thursday, September 26th, 2024 from 2:00pm to 4:00pm at the VanInwegen-Kenny Funeral Home, located at 401 Broadway in Monticello, NY. Minister Wendy of One Accord Christian Church in Newburgh, NY will officiate. A private committal service will be held at a later date at the Rock Ridge Cemetery in Monticello, NY at which time Eva will be buried with her parents, Willie and Mary Godley.

Eva will be missed by all who loved her, and her memory and special memories will be carried in their hearts forever.
