Charles W. Pirich, a resident of Monticello for over 65 years, passed away on Tuesday, June 29, 2010 at the Sullivan Co. Adult Care Center in Liberty. He was 91. The son of the late Andrew and Anna Pirich, he was born February 10, 1919 in Czechoslovakia and came to America with his family at the age of five. Charles was a veteran of World War II 8th Army Air Corps. and worked for Western Electric for forty-five years. In his younger years, he was an avid golfer, bowler and gardener. He was also a member of the Telephone Pioneers and Monticello Elk's Lodge. He is survived by his devoted wife: Harriet Murran Pirich of Monticello; a son: Charles Pirich Jr. of Monticello; three daughters: Susan Pearl & her husband Don of Endwell, NY, Linda Hulse & her husband Terry of Monticello, and Jennifer Frederick of New Smyrna Beach, FL; four grandchildren; four great grandchildren; a brother: John Pirich of South Carolina; two sisters: Mary Matthews and Susan Albrecta of Binghamton; and many nieces and nephews. Charles was predeceased by two brothers: Andrew and Michael Pirich; and two sisters: Anna Byce and Joanne Brown of Binghamton. Funeral services will be private and at the convenience of the family.
