Obituary of Mary Alice Osborne

Mary A. Osborne, “Cookie”, a retired certified nursing assistant at Valley View Nursing Home in Goshen, passed away on Tuesday, May 21, 2024 at her home in Wurtsboro.  She was 72.

The daughter of the late Frederick Joseph Stout and Alice Jane VanSyckle Stout, she was born July 7, 1951 in Suffern, NY.

Cookie loved all animals but cats held a special place in her heart. She was great at crocheting and needle point. She enjoyed reminiscing about the Ford Fastbacks and how they were her favorite cars of all time. She could be found enjoying a good murder mystery book from time to time. To know her was to love her for her witty, quick and sassy comebacks. 

She is survived by a son: Frederick L. Osborne of Wurtsboro; a daughter: Melissa Call (Jorge) of Sparrow Bush; four grandchildren: Bradley, Radames Jr. Alexander and Christopher; and a brother: Robert Stout Sr. of, Bunnell FL; sister: Ellen Stout of Wurtsboro, Helen Rodriquez of Dingmans Ferry PA; and several nieces and nephews.  In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by two sons: George F. Osborne and Francis Call Jr.; her sister: Dolores Lynch and brother Arthur Stout.

Family and friends are invited to gather on Saturday, May 25 from 12:00 to 2:00pm at the VanInwegen-Kenny, Inc. Funeral Home, 111 Sullivan Street in Wurtsboro with a funeral service starting at 2pm at the funeral home.  Cremation will follow the services and interment of her ashes will be held at the Bloomingburg Rural Cemetery at a later date.
