Obituary of Helen Jane Fraser

Please share a memory of Helen to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Helen Jane Fraser, a retired teller at Key Bank, passed away on Thursday, May 16, 2024 at her home in Monticello surrounded by her family.  She was 86 years old.

The daughter of the late Gus and Anna Schluer, she was born January 21, 1938 in Weehawken, NJ.

In her younger years, Helen and her late husband, Richard Fraser, used to go for long rides on their Honda Gold Wing.  They made multiple trips, but the farthest they traveled was to Texas to visit family.  She also enjoyed going for long walks and sitting on her back porch watching nature.  After her late husband passed, she met Mickey Glaab and they enjoyed going on cruises, long drives, and fine dining.

She is survived by her two sons: Gary Fraser (Cheryl) of Abilene, TX and Steve Fraser (Michelle) of Monticello; nine grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; a brother: George Schluer of Lava; two sisters: Marion Roche (Rease) of Callicoon and Carol Seidel (Bob) of Binghamton; and several nieces and nephews.  She was predeceased by her husband Richard “Dick” Fraser; her recent companion: Glenn “Mickey” Glaab.

A special thanks goes out to Michelle Speranza, Kate Papa, Alexis O’Shaughnessy, and to Helen’s Hospice team for their tender loving care making her transition dignified and peaceful.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 23rd from 11:00am to 1:00pm at the VanInwegen-Kenny Funeral Home, 401 Broadway in Monticello, with a prayer service starting at 1pm with Pastor Phyllis Haynes officiating.  Burial will follow at the Hurleyville Cemetery.
