Obituary of Susan R. Stackhouse

Please share a memory of Susan to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Susan R. Stackhouse passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 25, 2024 at her home in Rock Hill with her sons by her side.  She was 69.

The daughter of the late Howard W. Klecka and Aimee Kinne Klecka, she was born on May 6, 1954 in Monticello.

Susan worked most of her career as an Aide for the Monticello School District as she loved working with children.  She only stopped due to her health in 2018. In her free time, she enjoyed fostering kittens for the Middletown Humane Society.  She was also an avid bingo player, almost never missing a week at the Monticello Elks Lodge on Tuesday nights, and also on Saturday nights at St. Peter’s Church with her late friend Helen Reno.

She is survived by her two sons (whom she was most proud of and who took care of her during her last days): James & Kevin of Rock Hill; her sisters: Nancy Marinchak of Monticello, and Karen Gwiozdowski (John) of Monticello; and several nieces and nephews.  She was predeceased by her baby Mark James who was only three days old.

Per her wishes, Sue will be cremated, and her ashes will be buried in the Hurleyville Cemetery at a later date.

The family asks that memorial contributions be made to Hospice of Orange and Sullivan Counties for their care over the last four months of her life www.hospiceoforange.com;  or to the animal rescue of your choice.

Arrangements are under the direction of the VanInwegen-Kenny, Inc. Funeral Home of Monticello.  For additional information or to send an online condolence, please visit www.kennyfuneralhome.com
