Obituary of Lorraine Jean Blades
Lorraine Jean Blades of Wurtsboro formerly Summitville, NY, a retired Nursing Assistant at Ellenville Hospital, peacefully passed away on April 17, 2024, at the age of 96.
Born in Newark, NJ, on March 10, 1928, Lorraine was the daughter of the late Nicholas Zaccone & Mary Korman Zaccone. She was predeceased by her husband, Harold E. Blades, Sr.
She embarked on her nursing journey with a genuine passion for healing and comforting those in need, leaving a lasting impact on her patients and colleagues.
Lorraine's strength and kindness extended far beyond the hospital walls. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, friend, and devoted animal lover. Her warm heart and infectious laughter brought comfort and joy to all who had the privilege of knowing her.
She devoted her life to her family and community and created a haven where all “strays” were welcomed both two legged and four legged. She was there for everyone and everything.
Whether she was climbing trees with the kids, teaching them to fish, or had candy jars full of everyone’s favorite candies. Lorraine approached life with enthusiasm and a joyful spirit that was contagious to all around her. Lorraine will be deeply missed by her family and friends, but her memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
She is survived by her daughter, Linda Lothrop of Wurtsboro, NY, and her son, Harold Blades Jr. and his finance, Linda Rose of Hadley, NY. Her grandchildren, William Lothrop Jr. and his wife, Felicity; Kevin Lothrop and his wife, Stacey; Jarrid Blades, and great-grandchildren, Danica, Kaiden, & Brodie Lothrop, will forever cherish her memory.
A Memorial visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 8, 2024, from 4:00pm to 6:00pm at the VanInwegen-Kenny Funeral Home, 111 Sullivan Street in Wurtsboro, NY with a prayer service starting at 5:45pm.
