I call my Grandmother the greatest disciple I’ve ever known and for good reason. Everyone she came in contact with she told about our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. One of my fondest memories of my grandma is when we went on a cruise and there was a talent show. I knew she could sing but had never seen her sing on stage. I was completely blown away by her performance and remember thinking she was a superstar after it. We had such a good time going to the Buffett and eating since all the food was covered. She was one of the kindest souls I’ve ever known and am grateful she was a major influence in my life.

My name is Wanda Jones and I am the oldest living child of Gertrude Holland. Mom loved the color yellow. She had a great sense of humor and just about every time we talked she would make me laugh. Mom was grateful and thankful to everyone that did anything for her. She never met a stranger. She would talk to everybody and anybody she meet. Her mission was to tell them about Jesus and pray that they would accept him as their Lord and savior.
Mom loved all her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren and would do anything for them. I will miss the talks of encouragement, Jesus and life.
I miss you mom and sometimes I would be driving down the road and I would think about something you said or did that was funny and I would just bust out laughing. So many great memories of you that I will always cherish. Until we meet again you will always be in my heart.

I remember coming down to Monticello every single summer when I was middle school to spend with my dad and family. Grandma would get me often and we would go to McDonald’s and the ice cream shop or the book store. She really knew how to make fun out of anything we did. She definitely would it an adventure. Not realizing it then but definitely as I got older and now, all the talks we had she was just feeding so much wisdom in me. It stayed with me . I’m so grateful for being able to have been blessed with such an amazing woman ,with the purest heart . I love you grandma . I know you are singing with that beautiful voice just praising God . What a honor and privilege it must be to be in his presence. You will be sorely missed lady . Always in my heart , forever on my mind

In reflecting on the wholesome life of my grandmother Gertrude, I am reminded of her gentle nature, the love you could feel in her presence, her wisdom and kindness. The parts of her life that she shared with me gave me guidance, strength and understanding at a time it was much needed. I will remember our time spent together and cherish my memories of her always. A sweet memory from childhood with her is a big apart of my mornings and my children’s as well. In the morning after a sleepover with grandma, we sat down at the table and had tea. That was my first time trying hot tea and I loved it. She was the lead to my love of hot tea and when her great grandchildren were of age I introduced them too. We sit and enjoy having tea in the mornings, a simple joy and act influenced by my beloved grandmother.

My Dear Ms. Gertrude, Ms. Holland, Lovely Ministry Sister, and all the other ways we addressed each other in Love, respect and humor.
May your Spirit be at pease within God’s gracious care until He reunites all of us.
Thank you for your prayers, encouragement, compliments, quality fellowship, and for creating countless opportunities for much laughter. I really enjoyed spending time with you.
I sincerely thank Deana for introducing us because you became an extended family member who I love and care about very much.
The last time we saw each other you expressed your desire to share a “Love of God Ministry” which would provide a comfortable way to encourage people to love and pray for each other, to laugh together, to talk about bible scriptures, and to receive Christ Jesus as Lord and Savior.
As you always said, “with God all things are possible.” In loving memory of your life and what you have meant to people, anyone reading this message to you, Ms. Holland, will hopefully take a few minutes to encourage someone, in a small comfortable way, to think about the message of the Love of God Ministry, which you believed came from your heart and mind as a seed planted by God.
I Love You Always . . .
Brenda Cornelison
