Myola Burns, Sr., was born on May 18, 1948 in Jackson, Mississippi, to the late Robert Lee Burns and RoseLee Berry.  On Saturday, February 10, 2024, Lee retired from a life of labor to reward.

  

Myola attended school in Jackson, MS.  He worked in the Maintenance department at the Monticello Central School District. 

 

Myola will be remembered for his love of spending time with his family.  He also had a passion for southern food, which always had to include white rice.  Myola also loved attending church and will be missed greatly. 

  

Myola leaves to cherish his memories, his domestic partner of 48 years, Essie Bryant of Monticello, NY; his three children, Enrique Olivero Burns (Dawn) of Syracuse, NY,  Loreen Burns-Creque of Charlotte, NC, and Myola Lee Burns, Jr. (Sabrina) of Monticello, NY; five sisters, Gloria Dunbar, Josephine Blockman, Dorothy Rown, Ledora Burns, Bobbie Burns, all of Jackson, MS; and three brothers, Ricky Lee Burns of Houston, TX, Michael Burns of California, and Tyrone Burns of Florida; a sister-in-law, Sara Rosalee Atherly of Monticello, NY; 17 grandchildren and great grand-children who loved him dearly; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.  Lee was predeceased by his parents; his widow, Louisa Atherly-Burns; his son-in-law, Robert Creque; and his siblings, James Earl Burns. Robert Earl Burns, Jimmy Lee Burns, and Maurice Burns, all of Jackson, MS.

 

Sleep on Myola, take your well-deserved rest.  We will carry you in our hearts forever.  “To live in the hearts we leave behind is not to die.”
