Obituary of Olga Luz Valencia

Olga Luz Valencia (95), passed away peacefully on December 23rd, 2023 in her Monticello home surrounded by loved ones.

Born in Colombia, she was the daughter of Manuel Maria Valencia and Julia Christina Bueno. She then resided in Monticello, NY since 1977 and also briefly worked at the Concord Resort Hotel.

She is survived by her two daughters: Amparo (Bernardo) Escobar and Trudy (Jaime) Buitrago; as well as 2 grandchildren, and 5 great grandchildren. She was a loving and dedicated great grandmother, grandmother, and mother, who provided a household full of love, delicious food, and warmth. She dedicated her prayers and love to all who knew her, and lived life to the fullest, always guided by good teachings from God and Jesus. She blessed everyone she encountered with her infectious love of helping others during the Christmas season.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 27 from 4:00 to 7:00pm at the VanInwegen-Kenny Funeral Home, 401 Broadway in Monticello.   Her funeral mass will be celebrated on Thursday, December 28 at 11:00am at St. Peter’s Catholic Church, Broadway and Liberty Street with Fr. John Sheehan officiating.  Burial will follow at the Rock Ridge Cemetery in Monticello.
