Ernest Morse Sr. of Bloomingburg, a retired carpenter, died Tuesday, May 4, 2010 at the ORMC - Horton Campus in Middletown. He was 82. The son of the late Ernest Morse and Ida Mae Garrison Morse, he was born February 13, 1928 in New Hampton. Ernest was a first seaman of the United States Navy and was honorably discharged in 1947. He then returned home and started his career in carpentry. His passions were antique cars, fishing, camping, and most of all his family. Survivors include his beloved wife of 60 years: Ella Irwin Morse, at home; a son: Ernest Morse Jr. & his wife Virginia; his daughters: Brenda Pisano (Ronald Starr), Bonnie Howard & her husband Al, Judy Mann & her husband Malcolm, and Cindy Romer & her husband Ben; a brother: Royal Morse; his sisters: Dorothy, Coretta, Marilyn and Alice; and many, many grandchildren and great grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his loving daughter: Marylou. The family would like to give special thanks to Hospice of Orange and Sullivan Counties for the extraordinary care given to Ernest. Family & friends are invited to gather from 1-3pm on Saturday, May 8 at the VanInwegen-Kenny Funeral Home, 111 Sullivan Street in Wurtsboro. A memorial service with military honors will be held on Saturday at 3:00pm at the funeral home with Rev. Roy Shaffer officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Hospice of Orange & Sullivan Counties, 800 Stony Brook Court, Newburgh, NY 12550 or the American Cancer Society, 419 East Main Street, Suite 307B, Middletown, NY 10940, to honor his daughters' bouts with breast cancer.
