Obituary of Robert G. Santomauro

Robert G. Santomauro, a retired carpenter and former resident of Fort Pierce, Florida, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 13, 2023 at his daughter’s home in Rock Hill, NY.  He was 83 years old.

The son of the late Ermanno Santomauro and Julie Santomauro (nee Purnelle), he was born March 18, 1940 in Sicily, Italy.

Robert loved to travel to warm destinations that had beautiful sandy beaches and he enjoyed life to the fullest and never wanted to be dependent on anyone. Robert always made himself available to family and friends to accomplish many household improvement projects.  In his last days, he got the opportunity to reminisce with family and friends and that is all he wanted from his peaceful days at home.

He is survived by a daughter: Yvonne Housman and her husband James of Rock Hill, NY; a son: Robert Santomauro and his wife Patricia of Mineola, NY; three grandchildren: Briana Housman, Christina Santomauro and Samantha Santomauro; a sister: Adrianna Santomauro; and many nieces and nephews.  He was predeceased by two brothers: Giuseppe and Enrico Santomauro; four sisters: Bianca Palmas, Liliana Consolino, Chiara Gattoni and Annunziata Santomauro; and a grandson Devin Housman.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, December 16 from 10:00am to 12:00pm at the VanInwegen-Kenny Funeral Home, 401 Broadway in Monticello, with a prayer service starting at approx.. 10am.  Cremation will follow the services.
