Obituary of John E. Price

John E. Price, son of the late Charles Price and Olive VanKeuren Price, and lifelong resident of Monticello, entered into rest on Thursday, April 15, 2010. John served as an artillery surveyor in the United States Army from 1957-1959, stationed in Germany. He was also a retired manager of the former Sullivan County Wholesalers; by trade he was a union plumber and pipe fitter. He was an avid sportsman and hunter; and was a past member of the Megabucks and Jackson Hunting Clubs, and also a member of Southwoods Motor Cross Club. John is survived by his loving wife of 50 years: Ruth Avery Price; three sons: John C. Price (Cathy), Duane (Jeannine) and James; as well as a daughter Kari (Briano). He is also survived by his grandchildren: Tanya, Danielle, Jennifer, Corey, Jake, Connor and Alessia; great-grandchildren: Annette, Brian and Michael; sisters: Eleanor, Betty, Marie, Grace; and sister in-law Sharon; as well as many special nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his sister: Evelyn; and brother: Irwin "Pete" Price. Family and friends are invited to gather on Sunday, April 18 from 4-7pm at the VanInwegen-Kenny, Inc. Funeral Home, 401 Broadway in Monticello. His funeral service will be held on Monday, April 19 at 11:00am at the funeral home with Rev. Paul Case officiating. Burial with military honors will follow at Budd Cemetery, Route 42 in Monticello.
