Obituary of James K. Green

James K. Green, a lifelong resident of Sullivan County, passed away at home on March 27, 2010. The son of the late James K. Green and Josephine Hartman Green, he was born July 10, 1938 in Liberty. Jim was a graduate of Fallsburg High School, Cornell University and the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine. He maintained a private dental practice in Monticello for over thirty years and was on the medical/dental staff at Woodbourne Correctional Facility. Prior to beginning his practice in Monticello, he spent four years in the Army Dental Core and served in Vietnam from 1964-65 as a member of the 5th Dental Detachment in support of the 1st Cavalry Division. In Sullivan County, Jim was an active member of his community working with the Boy Scouts in Rock Hill, coaching Little League baseball, a member of the Steering Committee of Sullivan Renaissance and Chairman of the Conservation Advisory Committee for the Town of Thompson. He was also an avid sportsman who loved hunting, hiking, fishing, skiing and golf. His family will treasure him for his devotion as a loving husband, father and brother. He is survived by his wife: Judith at home; children: James C. Green of Harrisburg, PA and Carol A. Green of Albany, NY; sisters: Mary M. Zagacki of Pembroke Pines, FL and Patricia Harris of Weston, WV; brothers: Ernest M. Green of Albany, NY and Daniel Green of Queensbury, NY and their families. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a brother, Joseph Green of Pembroke Pines, FL. Jim's mass will be celebrated on Monday, April 5, 2010 at 11:00am at the Church of St. Joseph, 180 Sullivan Street in Wurtsboro, NY. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made be made to Hospice of Orange & Sullivan Counties, 800 Stony Brook Ct, Newburgh, NY 12550 or to the charity of one's choice.
