Obituary of Alice M. Kreiter
Please share a memory of Alice to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Alice Margaret Sheridan Dillon Kreiter, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, March 11, 2010. She was 82.
Family statement reads: Alice Kreiter was the matriarch of our family. She cherished her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren above all else. She was the glue that held our family together. She was brave and bold, always willing to "go along" and try new things. She was known for her love of gardening and her beautiful flower gardens. She was an avid bird watcher and loved to wear pins of all kinds, but dragonflies were by far her favorite. She loved her cats Tiger Lily & Abby who will miss her dearly. Alice had a special way of making each of us feel as if we were her favorite. Her heart will always remain on Dillon Rd. Alice found her Dillon castle waiting for her in the Emerald Isle, and it was for all of the ones that went before her that she took the long way home.
Alice was born August 16, 1927 to Thomas and Margaret (nee Sheridan) Dillon in Monticello, NY. She married Gerard Kreiter on September 17, 1949. They built a home on her family land and raised a family.
She was a member of the Monticello Senior Citizens, Sullivan County Historical Society, St. Peter's Church, volunteer for the Dispute Resolution Center and Communities That Care.
In addition to her parents, she is predeceased by her beloved husband, Gerard Kreiter; her brother, Thomas Dillon.; her sister, Anna May Dillon; and son-n-law Eric Neumann.
She is survived by her children, Ellen Neumann of Liberty, Peggy Lindstadt and her husband Edward, Peter Kreiter, Kathleen Kreiter and her husband Joao Silva, all of Monticello. Alice is also survived by her grandchildren; Geri Neumann and her husband Craig Duffy, Barbi Neumann-Marty and her husband Dan Marty, Suzanne Lindstadt, Edward Lindstadt III, Keith Restrepo and his wife Zhenya, Kyle Kreiter and his wife Julia; and great grandchildren EllenRose and Erin Duffy, Kayla Lindstadt, Dianna and Sofia Marty, Angela Fiola and Dillon Thomas Kreiter.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, March 14 from 2-4 & 7-9pm at the VanInwegen-Kenny Funeral Home, 401 Broadway in Monticello.
