Drew Blackburn passed away on Saturday, February 27, 2010 at his home in Rock Hill surrounded by his family. He was 74.
The son of the late John Percy Blackburn and Matilda A. Keller Blackburn, he was born October 17, 1935 in Wilkes County, North Carolina.
Drew was a lifetime member and past chief of the Rock Hill Fire Department and also enjoyed bowling, fishing, auctions and hot rods. He was also the owner of Blackburn Auto Body in Rock Hill.
He is survived by his high school sweetheart and wife of 54 years: Gertrude Owen Blackburn, at home; two sons: John Blackburn & his wife Julie of Horton, and Richard Blackburn (Denise Solberg) of Rock Hill; a daughter Lois Cooper & her husband Lowell of Rock Hill; a brother: Michael Blackburn & his wife Joan of Rock Hill; ten grandchildren: Linda, Derrick, Richard and Ryan Blackburn, Bryan, Daniel, Kevin, Joseph and Jason Babcock, and Shelby Cooper; twelve great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, March 2 at 6:00pm at the Rock Hill Fire Department, Glen Wild Road in Rock Hill with Rev. Roy Shaffer officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Rock Hill Fire Dept., P.O. Box 116, Rock Hill, NY 12775.
