Leonard Logun passed away on Wednesday, February 17, 2010 after a short battle with cancer. He was 82. Len is survived by his wife of 60 years: Rhoda, at home; two daughters: Brenda Logun-Schlossberg & her husband Brent of West Nyack, and Jeri Logun & her partner Mary Saloomey of Derby, CT; and grandchildren: Dylan Schlossberg & his wife Melissa, and Dana Schlossberg. He will also be missed by dear friends: Ronnie Sze and family, Pat Tweed and family, Beverly Catalano & son, and Jenny Swies. Len was a veteran of World War II where he served in Europe as part of the Army Transport Command. In addition to serving his country, he was an integral part of the community as the owner of The Lantern chinese restaurant in Monticello for 32 years. Len's love for building and flying model airplanes was ever apparent as he was a member of the Sullivan County Radio Control Club for many years and spent endless hours at the airplane field earning the nickname "Crashlen". His funeral service will be held on Thursday, February 18 at 1:00pm at the VanInwegen-Kenny, Inc. Funeral Home, 401 Broadway in Monticello with Rabbi Michele Medwin officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Hospice of Orange & Sullivan Counties, 800 Stony Brook Court, Newburgh, NY 12550.
