Obituary of Dennis R. Gaffney

Dennis R. Gaffney, a retired factory worker for VAW Aluminum in Ellenville, passed away on Tuesday, July 5, 2022 at his home in Rock Hill.  He was 78.

The son of the late Edward Gaffney and Helen Billings Gaffney, he was born December 5, 1943 in New York City.  He was the widower of Marie Winkler Gaffney, who predeceased him on March 1, 2015.

Dennis spent his free time with his grandchildren whom he loved dearly.  Colin and Shayla were the highlight of his life. He will be missed greatly by all who loved him.  He was also a veteran of the United States Navy.

He is survived a daughter: Christine Halpin & her husband Andrew of Chester; two grandchildren: Colin and Shayla; sisters-in-law: Caroline and Joanne; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to his wife, he was predeceased by a brother: Donald.

Family and friends are invited to gather on Monday, July 11 from 2-4 & 7-9pm at the VanInwegen-Kenny Funeral Home, 111 Sullivan Street in Wurtsboro. His funeral mass will be held on Tuesday, July 12 at 11am at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, 180 Sullivan Street in Wurtsboro with Fr. Peter Madori officiating.
