Obituary of Marie Trebilcock
Marie Trebilcock passed away on Sunday, June 5, 2022 at the Rosary Hill Home in Thornwood, NY after a long illness. She was 73.
The daughter of the late Mortin Greenbaum and Rose Greenbaum, she was born August 17,1948 in Lodz, Poland. Her family moved to the United States after surviving the Holocaust, the Shoah in WWII and settled in New Jersey realizing the American dream, working, living and raising their children in relative peace and security.
Marie graduated from Glen Rock High School and later received an Associates degree in Laboratory Science at Orange County Community College. She worked as a laboratory technician in the night shift at the old Horton Hospital in Middletown, NY for over 25 years while raising a family. Later, she finished her career at St. Lukes in Cornwall where she worked for over 5 years. She volunteered at the Wurtsboro Ambulance Corps for approx 10 years, making many long lasting local friendships.
If there was a picture in the dictionary for Frank Sinatra’s song “I Did it My Way”" it would include hers. She married at a young age to James L Trebilcock, Jr., moved to Wurtsboro, NY in 1972 and raised four children who survive her. She was an avid reader, admired the performing arts from afar on public TV and the 1970’s Rock N Roll of among others, Bruce Springstein and Fleetwood Mac. She had a rare spirit with a salty sense of humor that could make you laugh out loud without warning. Her favorite poem was ‘Invictus’ by William Ernest Henley, “it matters not how strait the gate, how charged with punishments the scroll, I am the master of my fate: I am the captain of my soul.” Her greatest legacy are her four children and 10 grandchildren who survive her.
Those who survive her are first and foremost, her loving baby sister Jean Greenbaum of Corte Madera, CA: Her daughter: Sandra Tica & husband David of Croton Falls, NY; three sons: David Trebilcock and wife Jane of Healdsburg, CA, John Martin (Jack) Trebilcock of Wurtsboro and James (JB) Trebilcock & wife Ayisha of Ridgefield Park, NJ. She also leaves behind ten amazing and loving grandchildren: Luba Louise, Isadora Rae and Eli James Tica, Kevin, Peter and Margaret Rose Trebilcock, Grace Mary, Andrew and Sofia Rose Trebilcock and Nathaniel Trebilcock.
Family and friends are invited to gather on Thursday, June 9 from 10am to 12pm at the VanInwegen-Kenny, Inc. Funeral Home, 111 Sullivan Street in Wurtsboro with a funeral service starting at 12pm.. Burial and graveside services will follow at the Beth El Cemetery in Paramus, NJ at 2:30pm.
