Jerry R. Earl of Wurtsboro, a retired employee of Wakefern Food Distributors in Middletown, passed away on Saturday, May 28, 2022 at his home in Wurtsboro. He was 82.

The son of the late Clarence Nelson Earl and Helena Barker Earl, he was born on July 24, 1939 in Highland Mills.  He was the widower of Elizabeth “Fay” Carey Earl who predeceased him on February 9, 2019.

A member of the Local Teamster’s #445, Jerry was a veteran of the United States Air Force and was a former volunteer firefighter for the Harriman Engine Company.  Back in the day when he owned the Citgo Station in Wurtsboro, he enjoyed spending time across the street in Danny’s making new friends and telling stories. He had his own stool at the end of the bar. Around that same time, he coached Little League here in Wurtsboro and most of the team hung out at the garage with him getting his stock cars and demolition derby cars ready for the Accord races he participated in. For almost 20 years when his grandchildren played Little League, he and Fay never missed a game. Once he retired, he and Fay enjoyed spending the winters in Florida hanging out by the pool and hot tub with their SweetWater friends. Jerry also enjoyed going to the Casino playing the slots both in N.Y. and Florida.

Survivors include four daughters: Susan Sinistorie & her husband Joseph of Wurtsboro, Elizabeth Grosso & her husband Allan of Middletown, Karen Benard & her husband Martin of Greenwood Lake, and Cindy Madden (James Brundage) of Dingmans Ferry, PA; a son: Jerry Earl of Chester; a brother: James “Butch” Earl  of North Carolina; a sister: Mary Alice “Cook” Carey (Bill) of South Carolina; six grandchildren: Joseph, Shawn, Steven, Allan, Elisa and Shayne; several nieces and nephews, his wife’s family ; and of course his granddogs.
