Obituary of Anna Catherine Walker

Please share a memory of Anna to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Anna Catherine Walker, affectionately known as “Cat”, was born February 1, 1954 to the late Eddie Ray and Vera Mae Stubbs in Fort Deposit, Alabama.  On April 27, 2022, Anna passed away at Garnet Medical Center in Middletown, NY.  She was 68 years old.

Anna attended Monticello Central High School.  After over 25 years of employment, Anna retired from Crystal Run Village as a Direct Support Professional.  She met and married the late Thomas D. Walker, Sr. on August 15, 1970 and this union produced two children and added five stepchildren.

Anna was passionate about children and the elderly. Her house was always open, and she had a hand in raising all of her grandchildren. Her most loved quote was, “Let Go and Let God.”  Cat touched so many lives in so many ways and she will truly be missed.

When God called Anna home, she left her legacy to be cherished by one son, Thomas D. Walker, Jr. (Angelic) of Monticello, NY; two daughters, Tyeasha M. Walker of Monticello, NY and Jasmine Johnson of Kingston, NY; four stepdaughters, Perlie Holland, Connie Harriage (Neil), Janice Walker, and Veronica Carew; four brothers, Jessie Stubbs of Piscataway, NJ, Richard Stubbs (Sal) of Brooklyn, NY, Curtis Stubbs and Jose Stubbs both of Monticello, NY; two sisters, Ora Campbell (Frank) of Columbus, OH and Corrine McFarland (Neil) of Monticello, NY; two brothers-in-law, Robert Walker (Deborah) and Ira Walker both of Monticello, NY; and three sisters-in-law, Ella Stubbs, Martha Hargress and Mary Steele all of Monticello, NY; thirteen grandchildren, Amari, Jordan, J’Vaughn, Angelise, DeShawn, Elijah, Jalen, Taquanza, Timothy, Tahira, Desmond, Xavier and Onal; three Goddaughters, Krystal Williams, Akasha Anderson and Cheyanne Smith; and the Robinson, Pope, Mack and Williams families.

Anna was predeceased by her husband of 42 years, Thomas D. Walker Sr.; three brothers, Willie James Stubbs, Robert Stubbs, and John Stubbs; one sister, Dorothy Stubbs; and her very special cousin, Gloria Williams.

Sleep on, Anna, and take your rest.  We will always carry your memory in our hearts.  You will be missed but never forgotten.

Her funeral service will be held on Wednesday, May 4 at 12:00 noon at the VanInwegen-Kenny Funeral Home, 401 Broadway in Monticello.  Viewing will be from 11am to 12pm.  Burial will follow at the Rock Ridge Cemetery in Monticello.
