Obituary of Russell J. Stapleton III
Russell J. Stapleton III of Montrose, a cement mason for Local Union #780, passed away on Wednesday, April 27, 2022 at the Westchester Medical Center in Valhalla. He was 50.
The son of Russell J. Stapleton jr. and Elizabeth Mirra Stapleton, he was born December 24, 1971 in the Bronx.
Russell was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps. and a motorcycle enthusiast. He was also instrumental in helping build the concrete towers on the new Tappan Zee Bridge.
He is survived by a son: Joseph Stapleton of Poughkeepsie; a sister: Amy Stapleton (Danny Velez) and their daughter Vivian of Wurtsboro; his parents: Russell & Elizabeth Stapleton of Wurtsboro; his significant other: Mary Murray of Montrose; and his dog Jack Murray Stapleton.
Visitation will be held on Monday, May 2 from 4:00 to 7:00pm at the VanInwegen-Kenny Funeral Home, 111 Sullivan Street in Wurtsboro. His funeral mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, May 3 at 11am at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, 180 Sullivan Street in Wurtsboro with Fr. Peter Madori officiating.
