Obituary of Michael William Tuohy
Michael W. Tuohy, 66, passed away, at home, peacefully on Wednesday April 20, 2022. Born, February 12, 1956, in Brooklyn, New York, he was the son of the late Edward and Joan Tuohy. For the past 27 years he was married to his best friend, business partner, and love of his life, Stacy Seltzer Tuohy.
Michael’s love was deep and reached near and far. Michael always had a smile on his face and a kind word for anyone he spoke with. He always wanted others to share in the joy of life. Michael was an astute businessman, who created a successful company which he was extremely proud of. His business was important to him, but it was talking about his family that brought a smile to his face that would light up a room.
Michael was so proud to be the father of five wonderful children. He was a loving father who coached and umpired his children’s softball and baseball teams. There was no one who cheered louder or supported their children more than Michael. He loved the ocean and shared that love with them. He often took them on fishing trips, where they didn’t catch many fish, but the laughs were endless.
Michael had a wealth of knowledge in many subjects. When it came to history and music, Mike was an encyclopedia. He had amassed a collection of over 3000 cds and could often be found reading the booklets while listening to his favorite musicians. Mike loved going to concerts and listening to live music.
Michael had a quirky sense of humor that he loved to share. Family time was often spent making “Simpson” style prank calls to the local bars and rectories. He was one of a kind and made the world a brighter place. Anyone blessed to know Michael, will remember his unforgettable voice that we get to cherish forever.
Michael’s passion was caring for his family including five children; three sons: Sean Michael Tuohy (Assata Burnell) of Guilderland, NY, James William Tuohy of Dingmans Ferry, PA, Brian Edward Tuohy of Old Forge, PA; two daughters: Melissa Marie Boeckmann (Rainer) of St. Augustine, FL, Erin Eileen Leonawicz (Michael) of Dingmans Ferry, PA, Surviving siblings; Timothy Tuohy and Eileen Tuohy both of Sag Harbor,NY, and Late siblings; Edward Tuohy and Jane Tuohy. Michael “Papa/Boom Boom” shared a special bond with each of his six grandchildren; Trey Niall Tuohy (Sean), John, Michael, and Ryan Boeckmann (Melissa), Liam and Emma Leonawicz (Erin). He is also survived by many family and friends.
